Art at BHM
In May of 2024, The Birmingham Airport Authority celebrated the unveiling of “Fred S.” The mural was a collaboration between the Birmingham Airport Authority, Leadership Birmingham, and artist Rico Gatson. The mural celebrates the life and legacy of Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, who was a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement.
For many travelers, Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is the front door to Alabama. Our art program is designed to help make BHM more than just a waypoint on your journey, but a place that showcases some of the diverse values and cultures that make our region unique. Art installations are located throughout the terminal.
